About

Ethiopia is a new and upcoming cocoa origin. Well known for its high-quality coffee, the south and west of the country also have a suitable climate for cocoa cultivation. Because the sector is in its infancy, there is an opportunity to design it sustainably from the ground up. In this session students from Van Hall Larenstein (VHL) University of Applied Sciences together with TRAIDE Foundation will present their vision for developing Ethiopia’s cocoa sector and what role different stakeholders can play. The results are based on a student challenge organised at VHL in December 2024, previous work by TRAIDE in Ethiopia and discussions with sector stakeholders during the Amsterdam Cocoa Week.
